Choosing a Remote Access Protocol
When setting up a Remote Access service if you are entering in your server URL you will have the option to choose the protocol used - either UDP, HTTP or HTTPS.
HTTPS is not required for secure sharing or access and should only be used if you have a valid SSL certificate installed on your SimpleHelp server. This doc explains how to set this up.
The normal choice then should be either HTTP or UDP. If the machine you are sharing can access your server over UDP then we would recommend using it as it is more scalable. A SimpleHelp server can support more machines connecting over UDP than over HTTP. If you have thousands of shared remote access machines then using UDP for at least the bulk of them is a must.
If you have machines that will travel and be used in restrictive networks where only HTTP access may be available then you should share using HTTP.
Whichever you choose you should not set up two URLs to your server using each. This will mean the service is connecting and sharing to your server twice over and offers no benefit over simply using HTTP.
